You can copy a VHD from one host to another, but the configuration must be re-created. It’s very hard to replicate a VMs configuration (MAC addresses for NIC's, memory configuration, other virtual hardware attributes) simply by moving a VHD.

Hyper-V includes an export / import feature to encapsulate the configuration with associated VHD's for reuse. Exporting a VM sometimes duplicates the large VHD files from the source VM to another location.

No. DFS Replication will not replicate files or folders that are encrypted using the Encrypting File System (EFS). If a user encrypts a file that was previously replicated, DFS Replication deletes the file from all other members of the replication group. This ensures that the only available copy of the file is the encrypted version on the server.

Setup a server cluster and configuring EFS on the cluster may meet your requirement.

You can get more Info about Server Cluster <a href="http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc784503(WS.10).aspx" title="Server Cluster" rel="nofollow">here</a>

It's been said that encrypted files cannot be replicated using DFS Replication... which means a replicated share (which has been replicated/duplicated in the event one source is inaccessible/goes down) is no longer equivalent... what's the strategy to maintain a replicated copy in this situation?

Greetings! I know this is kinda off topic but I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest authoring a blog post or vice-versa? My site goes over a lot of the same topics as yours and I believe we could greatly benefit from each other. If you’re interested feel free to shoot me an email. I look forward to hearing from you! Excellent blog by the way!):
